CoservationProtection of the historic environment - archaeological sites and monuments, standing buildings and historic landscapes - is one of our core aims. In the past the Society has secured the future of the amphitheatre and prevented the demolition of the 'Bluebell' Inn in Northgate Street. We are members of Cheshire West and Chester's Conservation Area Advisory Committee and aim to comment on major planning proposals that come to our notice. Please look at our Facebook page for proposals that we are are currently considering. If you have any views on these (or other planning proposals with an impact on the historic environment) that you would like the Society's Council to take into consideration, you can leave a message on Facebook (but remember that your comments can be seen by others) or email Peter Carrington. Recent responses We have recently commented on the following proposals and schemes:
We are pleased to report that the CWaC Strategic Planning Committee rejected this application. Nevertheless, the need for more parking near the station remains, and we hope that Network Rail will return with new proposals that meet this need but are sensitive to the adjoining station buildings and to the general location at an important 'gateway' to the city centre. CWaC Planning Committee rejected this scheme. 2011 Chester Archaeological Society. Last updated 30-11-2011 |
